Telephone lines open between 08:00 and 18:30 Monday - Friday or alternatively can be booked at reception. Appointments can be booked up to four weeks in advance. Please indicate the nature and urgency of your problem so we can help you as efficiently as possible. We are also able to deal with a substantial number of issues by telephone rather than a face to face appointment.
For routine and non urgent matters please telephone after 10:30.
MONDAY is normally the busiest day for the practice; it is most helpful if non-urgent matters could be left until later in the week to enable us to manage the appointment system more effectively.
Please remember it is important that you make a separate appointment for each family member or patient.
If appointments ‘on the day’ are fully booked the receptionist will contact your doctor and arrange for them to call you back that same day to discuss your requirements and arrange for you to be seen, if required, as soon as is clinically appropriate.
Where possible you will see your usual GP for ongoing health problems. The surgery values continuity of care. However, this is not always possible at times of high demand and when GP’s are away; in which case you will be offered an appointment/telephone consultation with an alternative GP. You may also prefer to see a male or female doctor in certain situations and we will try to accommodate this where possible.

Saturday appointments can ONLY be booked in advance, there is no walk-in service provided.
To get the most out of a consultation please be prepared:
- Please avoid bringing several unrelated problems. Ten minutes is not long and if you have more than one problem to discuss, mention this to our receptionist when you book. You may be offered a separate appointment.
- Bring a list of any non-prescription medicines or supplements you are taking.
- Bring someone with you for support if needed.
During the Appointment
Don’t be afraid to ask questions and if you don’t understand something, ask for the information to be written down.
If you are prescribed a drug, make sure you understand why and how it is to be taken. The pharmacist is able to clarify items dispensed.
Be direct. Don’t leave embarrassing or difficult problems to the end. Remember, your problem is likely to be a common one for the medical staff.
Keeping to Time
If you arrive more than ten minutes late for an appointment we cannot guarantee that you will be seen. The doctors will use their discretion based on the needs of other waiting patients. The GP will try hard to keep to time but patients’ needs are unpredictable and delays will occur from time to time.
We offer telephone consultations. These are ideal for situations where an examination or face-to-face contact is not essential i.e. to discuss medication queries, home blood pressure readings, or occasions where you are uncertain whether or not you need to see a GP or nurse. If you require a telephone consultation please contact our reception team who will contact your GP/nurse and arrange for them to call you back.
If you would like a chaperone to be present during a physical examination by a GP or nurse at the surgery, please let us know and we will comply.
Interpretation and Translation
If you need help with interpreting or translation please advise reception at the time of booking so arrangements can be made.
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
